Journal Article Review Continuing Education Activity Application Process

Master - Journal Article Review Continuing Education Activity: The Editor of a journal that publishes articles related to medical physics can apply to become a Director of a Journal Article Review Continuing Education Activity. If approved by CAMPEP, the Director can award medical physics continuing education credits (MPCEC) to an individual who reviews a medical physics article(s) published in the journal of which the Director serves as Editor.
Initial approval will be for 12 months. At end of the 12 month period an audit will be conducted by the CAMPEP Continuing Education Credit Review Committee (CECRC). If approved, the Journal Article Review Continuing Education Activity will be approved for an additional 3 year period. The appropriate application fee to be submitted.
An application for a Journal Article Review Continuing Education Activity must be submitted to CAMPEP every 4 years. (Note: Following a change in editor at a journal or the editor's designate for managing the MPCEC program, a new application must be submitted to continue the program).
Update - Journal Article Review Continuing Education Activity: Each time within the approved 4 year period the applicant wishes to grant credit, the applicant completes an update form with the articles that have been reviewed and the maximum number of credits they wish to grant reviewers. The appropriate application fee to be submitted with EACH update.
Submit an Application:
- Once the application submission process has begun, Applicants may access the submission continuously until all required information is entered and the ‘Submit Application’ button has been activated.
- Payment is due via CREDIT CARD ONLY at the time of submission.
Review Process
- As soon as an application is submitted, two Reviewers will be assigned.
- If the application is incomplete, additional information will be requested via email and/or guidance will be provided by the Reviewers.
- Applicants may login to the application at any time in order to view any public comments regarding the application supplied by Reviewers.
- Reviews will be completed within a two week period upon receipt of a completed submission.
- Official approval or rejection of the application will be sent via email to the Applicant.
- A program will not be advertised as awarding MPCEC until approval has been given.
Following Application Approval
- Director responsible to for maintaining required participant information.
- An audit of the Journal Article Review Continuing Education Activity will be conducted by the Review Committee 12 months following initial approval.
- If the audit is favorable:
- The Journal Article Review Continuing Education Activity will be approved for an ADDITIONAL 3 years.
- The Director will upload required participant information, including individual credits earned, and submit payment for the generation of transcript for all participants via the CAMPEP system website.
- The Director may opt to upload the required participant information annually for the appropriate annual fee OR may upload as frequently as desired, submitting the required fee with EACH upload.
- Should a Director opt not to pay the appropriate fee for program transcripts, a program participant will have ‘viewing only’ access to the program transcript.
- A program participant may obtain the official program transcript for a fee of $25.00
- The Journal Article Review Continuing Education Activity will be approved for an ADDITIONAL 3 years.
- If the audit is unfavorable: (CAMPEP will work with the editor to remediate the outstanding issues).
